This class is for students with all levels of working with clay who are interested in enhancing their pottery skills. Through the creation process, students will explore the relationship between form and function. In this class, students will receive demonstrations and instruction on basic hand-building construction processes and finishing techniques for functional ceramics. This class will also include a brief introduction to the potter's wheel for creating functional work.

Come and get inspired by Japanese Ceramic Art and create your own work of art using hand-building techniques such as coil, slab, pinching and sculpting.  Students will also learn basic wheel throwing skills and make one-of-a-kind mugs, bowls, and pitchers. Glazing techniques will be taught as well.  Southborough Recreation will transport Neary Students to the Recreation Center.LEGAL GUARDIANS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR PICK UP AT THE RECREATION CENTER LOCATED 21 HIGHLAND ST. SOUTHBOROUGH FOR 5:00 PM.

Safe@Home is ideal for students that have expressed interest in assuming the responsibility of staying home alone. Students learn how to practice safe habits, how to prevent unsafe situations, and what to do when faced with dangers such as power failures or weather emergencies. Students are also introduced to the Safe Sitter® First Aid Chart and learn a system to help them assess and respond to injuries and illnesses.

4:00 PM - 6:30 PM    Safe Sitter ® babysitting class + CPR/AED certification - SAFE SITTER + CPR/AED CERTIFICATION
Safe Sitter® babysitting classes have been preparing young teens to care for younger children for over 40 years. The program follows guidelines from the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Heart Association. Students will learn how to prevent unsafe situations and what to do when faced with dangers such as power failures or weather emergencies. They will learn the ages and stages of child development, as well as practice diapering and baby care. Learn skills such as choking rescue and learning a system to help them assess and respond to injuries and illnesses. Life & Business Skills: The ability to screen jobs, discuss fees, and greet employers will set students up for success now and in the future. Students will receive a certification of completion of the class.This is a parent drop-off and pick-up program. Due to the late start time after school, Recreation transportation will not be offered.

Adult, child, infant CPR with AED certification:Learn how to...-Describe how high-quality CPR improves survival-Recognize when someone needs CPR-Perform high-quality CPR for an adult, child, and infant-Describe how to perform CPR with a team approach-Demonstrate how to use an AED on an adult, child, or infant-Describe when and how to help a chocking adult, child, or infant** Upon completion of the course, the student is certified CPR/AED for two years from the date of the class***
